A recent analysis of police data reveals that Dhaka Metropolitan City and the greater Dhaka Division recorded the highest number of reported cases involving violence against women and children. Between August of last year and March 2025, a total of 11,791 such cases were filed across Bangladesh—averaging around 48 incidents per day. Monthly breakdowns show 1,072 cases were filed in August, followed by 1,578 in September, 1,560 in October, 1,452 in November, 1,205 in December, 1,440 in January 2025, 1,430 in February, and a sharp increase to 2,045 cases in March.

Breaking it down further, the Dhaka Metropolitan area alone reported 51 cases of violence against women and children in August. This number rose to 110 in September, 125 in October, 115 in November, 131 in December, 127 in January 2025, 142 in February, and 162 in March. Meanwhile, the rest of the Dhaka Division (excluding the metropolitan area) saw 185 cases filed in August, followed by 253 in September, 225 in October, 217 in November, 187 in December, 229 in January 2025, another 229 in February, and a significant jump to 375 cases in March.
