Media coverage plays a critical role in shaping public perception and brand visibility, especially in Bangladesh's competitive telecom sector. This analysis focuses on the Share of Voice (SoV) among the three leading operators—Grameenphone, Banglalink, and Robi—based exclusively on positive news coverage in Tier 1 and Tier 2 newspapers & online portals. SoV, calculated in column-inches, reflects the prominence of these operators in print and online platforms. It is important to note that the presence of two other operators, Airtel and Teletalk, was insignificant in this regard.
In 2024, Banglalink achieved notable growth, increasing its SoV from 29% in 2023 to 34%, signaling a stronger presence in positive media coverage. Grameenphone, the market leader, experienced a marginal dip, moving from 58% in 2023 to 57%. Robi, however, saw a significant drop in its share, declining from 13% to 9%.
This comparison highlights evolving trends in media visibility among telecom operators. Banglalink's rise suggests effective efforts to enhance its public image, while Grameenphone's consistency reinforces its dominant position. Robi's declining share indicates the need for focused strategies to regain visibility. Such patterns underline the importance of maintaining a positive media presence in influencing public and market perceptions within the telecom sector.
